So what happened?

In fair South Australia, where we lay our scene.Pauline Hanson's One National Socialist is riding high in the polls. Probably because the SA Liberal Party is a cesspool of overtly establishment RWFWs. Instead of their more homespun, fair dinkum, low-key establishment fuckwits.Labor is all but assured a landslide victory, so the protest vote is upending the right, presumably why the Malinauskas Labor government finds it so easy to drift there. But that's a different website. I'm glad national treasure and recent retiree Antony Green won't have to cover such a boring count.Cory Bernardi joins his latest far-right microparty, suspiciously after their polling surge, in an attempt to resurrect a career being a festering sore on the body politic. In my personal opinion, of course.March 4th, 2026. Someone registers the domain firearmowners.org. Presumably not the dot-AU because that is restricted to those who can use an ABN, which might tip the hand. Unfortunately, they also left both firearmowners.com.au and focsa.com.au on the table, so...y'know...^{⚠ Sadly, I'm now navigating registration, because what was my genius idea to circumvent the ABN stuff didn't work, so that's in limbo for the moment. Publishing to this default URL to get this out.}March 5th, 2026. A mass email was sent out from that domain. You can see it below, but the gist is a 'Meet and Greet' with 'SA Politicians' for the following night, because these are super organised individuals. Apparently unidentified "representatives of major parties" were invited to come talk about firearms policy.
The email carries the logo of the "Combined Firearms Council," an organisation that, before these events, hadn't seen activity on their Facebook. since 2018. No one I've asked has ever heard of them, but they were mentioned in Hansard back in 2015.. The email does not reference the member organisations that would have had to supply the email contacts, but it does lead to a module about the "Firearm Owners Collective of South Australia".I do love a collective, comrades.When the event took place, the Liberal candidate for Davenport checked in on Instagram. He claims, "There were representatives from every party except for the (ALP)", and paraphrases content from Nicola Centofanti. He also describes himself in his IG bio as a "Good Human", suspicious enough when you have to say it about yourself, but is immediately contradicted by taking a selfie with Alex Antic. He also released a podcast that has some pretty effusive praise for Adolf Hitler. Episode 7 is here, but that's 46 minutes long, and I've been made aware of a 76-minute version. Curious indeed. In later episodes, they review the 'leadership' of Thatcher and Reagan. I'd quote them, but listening to these sounds less pleasant than stabbing a railroad spike into my own ears. But I digress.March 11th, 2026. A similar but expanded invitation is sent out for a later event, this time with a full two days notice. This one includes a longer recipient list, as it was the first sent to another contact who provided me with information. A joyous night, hosted by Andrew "Jars" Jarman. In the email, they claim "Reports indicate the South Australian Labor Party is covertly planning aggressive firearm confiscations and the introduction of draconian new legislation following the 21 March election. The weakened Liberal Party will likely cave and support Labor's agenda, just as they have nationally and in other states."So it's pretty obviously agenda-driven, not quite the town hall they're trying to make it out to be. But hey, you get to meet some medal-winners and a 90s footballer? Importantly, Jarman's more famous brother is not referenced, and neither Jarman factors into this. He could just be on the speaking circuit or someone's friend. No smear intended.March 18th, 2026. Three days out from election day, they go mask-off. In an email with the subject "This is our nation", they directly profile the candidates below. You might note a subtle orange theme.• Peter Heggie, a guy who owns a gun store and two ranges and is running under One Nation's imported polyester flag. So definitely nothing self-serving about ensuring firearms aren't restricted, hey. He's also President of the "Shooters Union of South Australia. Uh, #unionstrong, compadre.• Cory Bernardi, the kind of asshole they call a 'firebrand', and such a daring anti-establishment guy that he spent a decade in the Senate for a major party, before hosting a self-titled show on the Murdoch propaganda network. He's quite the prolific Liberal Party Australian Conservatives One Nation identity.• Rebecca Hewett, just after Cory, but actually third on the PHON Legislative Council ticket, with a blurb so boilerplate ChatGPT would boil the ocean trying to generate something that said less in as many words, before it hallucinated a candidate who had communicable values. Maybe having a woman in there softens the toxic nationalism message? I don't pretend to know the torturous thinking here.• Nathan Skrlj, the fourth on the ticket, whose family name strikes fear into the hearts of Scrabble players, but is standing to "restore our national values before it's too late," a dog whistle so strong I dare not read it aloud.• Carlos Quaremba, a Victor Harbour councillor running with PHON despite his aggressively non-Anglospherical appellation. He's "standing up for real people with real concerns." The mannequin caucus is aghast, but 'real concerns'...tough sell when you're profiled in a spam email with strong hints of illegitimacy by far-right dickheads. Carlito was actually bumped down to second on the ticket after Bernardi slithered in, despite featuring in a press release last year, where the orange menace called him "a leader who will deliver.” Apparently, he'll deliver until someone better comes along. So much for being strong on jobs.

Well, my friend, none of the contacts showing me this email ever signed up for PHON-calls. One last interacted with any firearm-related entity in SA in 2022.This suggests that the contact list, stretching back to at least that time, has been exported by a legitimate organisation, and then used by these FOCSA larrikins to shill their citrus flavour fascism.I have no specific information that this alleged privacy breach occurred at any of the organisations below. However, between these we have two umbrella organisations under whom clubs sit, and Mr Heggie's related business/ These should provide a reliable illustration of why data disclosure is a bit of a problem, even by the fucking standards of the local industry:

Now, I'm no lawyer, but anyone who can manage a website needs a general understanding of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). Let's just flag a couple of clauses:

3.2 If an APP entity is an organisation, the entity must not collect personal information (other than sensitive information) unless the information is reasonably necessary for one or more of the entity’s functions or activities.3.5 An APP entity must collect personal information only by lawful and fair means.3.6 An APP entity must collect personal information about an individual only from the individual unless (required by law, or unreasonable to not)5.1 At or before the time or, if that is not practicable, as soon as practicable after, an APP entity collects personal information about an individual, the entity must take such steps (if any) as are reasonable in the circumstances:
a. to notify the individual of such matters...6.1 If an APP entity holds personal information about an individual that was collected for a particular purpose (the primary purpose), the entity must not use or disclose the information for another purpose (the secondary purpose) unless:
a. the individual has consented to the use or disclosure of the information...7.1 If an organisation holds personal information about an individual, the organisation must not use or disclose the information for the purpose of direct marketing.7.3 Despite subclause 7.1, an organisation may use or disclose personal information (other than sensitive information) about an individual for the purpose of direct marketing if:

I'm not absolutely positive these apply, as there's a minimum revenue threshold of $3 million for an org to be an 'APP entity'. That said, in just a quick search, I found that SSAA-Victoria cleared $8m in 2024, so there's a strong chance. Regardless, as self-described and semi-regulatory "peak bodies," I'd argue there's an implicit need to...follow your own fucking policies, and not give out member or other acquaintances' personally-identifiable information (PII) to your pet cranks.On a side note, had they received the contact list in an above-board way, being spammed directly by One Nationalism would likely fall through that perverse loophole where political parties don't need to comply with basic decency. Like ignoring a 'no junk mail' sticker on your letterbox.But they've spun up this bullshit little enterprise, seemingly with the singular purpose of energising this unsuspecting audience toward voting for these dickbrains. The sad part is, a good proportion of them already would be rusted-on PHON voters, because it's not exactly the most diverse and inclusive crowd, so they possibly broke the law to fuck all actual benefit.Actually. Pointless grandstanding is kinda the Pauline way, so points for consistency. But let's rip the FOCSA-branded burqa off this dumbass stunt.

So who do I think is responsible?

Of these characters, it's hard to pin the blame on anyone specific. I'm spinning up this content too quickly for deep research, and my prevailing view of the cooker community is that so few of them have much competence.Cory is believable because he brings decades of experience on the far-right grift train, without ever having to make a positive contribution to public life — the One Nation wet dream. Plus, the only way the rest of Pauline's space cadets can rub two brain cells together is if they take a long run-up at one another. Here's a glimpse at his diamond-encrusted resume:• Being too much of a dipshit for the Liberals, with noted highlights such as being Shadow Minister for Families after allegedly dubious earlier business dealings advising divorcees on hiding money, about which he released a statement. Hilariously, that statement includes the line "Politics is a battle of ideas, not a battle of smears."• Allegations which he has strenuously rejected, that he drunkenly and creepily harassed Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young in the chamber. Rejected, but...well I don't not believe that could happen.• Being the torchbearer for the homophobic traditional idea of marriage, despite very much (in my opinion, of course) having the strongest 'has a secret second family' vibe in politics. Who knows what he means when he says "...throw open the doors and welcome into the fold those whose relationships are uncharacteristic of the most basic elements of a marital union." Probably DV.All of that said, this Peter Heggie character has the inside track, in my assessment.
• In email #3, he's been placed above their most likely shot at a seat,
• He's been gifted the longest writeup without clicking a tracking link, and
• He's also the only candidate from the lower house. The rest are all running for the state's unrepresentative swill.Herr Heggie (alliterative purposes only, I certainly wouldn't be making any other implications with that) owns one of the four Adelaide boomstick shops, with all the business connections that would entail, as well as two ranges, he's obviously very embedded in this community.As a big man about town, he'd know who has access to the email lists and probably the influence to have them handed over. In such a position, he might also have access to or influence over this Combined Firearms Council, despite them not having done anything since the last MY ROOOIIIGHTS panic, circa 2018. And as a PHON spamdidate, clearly has a reason to channel any such post-Bondi panic into votes for his party that definitely isn't just racist dogwhistles.

I guess Gina is getting all the petty apparatchiks her money can buy.
